The Requirements for DVD                           back to DVD main page

A Forever Yours Media DVD is created with the industry DVD-R format. This format is supported by 98% of the home set-top players and has been set as the industries on-going standard for recordable DVDs.

Our DVDs are developed and tested to work on the following:

The reason 2% of Home players may not play DVD-R is because the manufacturer has either left out the electronics for playback (to cut cost) or were waiting to see what the specifics would be for the standard writable format, thus leaving out the DVD-R playback ability for your model. Please note that even higher end players may not contain the DVD-R playback feature.

The last item worthy of mentioning is that some inexpensive DVD players use low end playback electronics that may result in the video pausing for as long as 2 seconds while it tries to catch up with playback. This is not a problem with Our DVDs as many Hollywood titles result in similar "catching up" issue. Some players will read the information twice to eliminate this. Higher end brands will also have better pickups and likely eliminate this and other playback occurrences entirely. For the most part this is a rare occurrence seen mostly seen in the $39-$69 DVD players.
