Video Restoration

ing emotion and exciting life to your video is our specialty. Whether it is a recently taped wedding that you want to clean up or a tape of your older memories that has deteriorated with age, Forever Yours Media can bring life back to your video in a way you never thought possible. We offer film to tape transfer of old 8mm film reels to video. This is a very popular service due to the fact that 8mm film has a very short shelf life. Right now any film that hasn't been transferred is almost deteriorated. Along with the loss of color and image, you also have the inconvenience of pulling out the 30 pound projector every time you want to watch your memories. It's either that or you just won't bother with it! The information below can provide you with an alternative.

(Also recommended for Previously Shot Weddings)

This 1966 wedding was recorded with an 8mm old film camera. Unfortunately cameras during this period had limitations in the in the area of color and picture contrast.

With a little digital restoration, we are able to enhance the picture to show colors and to bring out detail, such as the table and  bridesmaid in the background.

This sample from the same wedding had better lighting, but doesn't seem to be as sharp and colorful. As a result the picture looks quite flat. With some enhancing again, we are able to bring out the colors and lighten the shadows. The most prominant enhancment is the detail in the floor and walls. Also note the enhancement in the color of the dresses.

Our restoration services captures your film, digitizes it and enhances the color and sharpness. We will attempt to take out dust, scratches and film noise that was present in the original. As an option, we will can add graphics text, and music to the video to help bring it to life.

8mm film isn't the only format that may be deteriorating. VHS and 8mm analog tapes have a shelf life of 10-12 years. Some may have been damaged, played back to much or shot in poor lighting conditions. As such, we can provide restoration for these formats as well, including smooth transitions, color cast correction and brightening up of poorly lit scenes.

Even video shot with today's better cameras are subject to low-light problems. While the first inclination is to forget this scene entirely, a few steps in the way of digital enhancement can save the scene from being eliminated.

The following examples show a typical scene shot in low or almost no light, such as the case in a wedding reception. Please note: These are actual scenes taken from video. Although these scenes represent our illustration to you, they are compressed to allow for quick download over the internet. This compression degrades the quality slightly as a trade off.

1. Here is the shot before turning on the camera's low light setting. With no natural light the scene is almost non-existent.
2. With the press of a button, we now have something to work with. All available light in the area is forced into the lens. Note, we still have a yellow brown cast due to the absence of light.
3. By using our enhancement equipment, we are able to pull out color cast and bump up the sharpness. Now we have a scene that has better conditions then were ever present at the event.

If you are a videographer who has captured your own footage, we can offer the editing and enhancing services to you. Our services will help out with those finishing touches which will save you time to concentrate on your videography. We accept 8mm film reels, HI-8, VHS, VHS-C, S-VHS and Mini DV formats.

This scene has a yellow color cast; not so much because of low light, but artificial light and the wooden walls of   this particular hall. With a little help from our digital equipment, we are able to remove the color cast, sharpen the image, and enhance the color to recreate a more realistic image.
